My car is a SEAT TOLEDO 1.9 TDI 110 SE (Year 2000) Cruise control was standard equipment on UK supplied cars, but I saved £5000 by importing from Ireland and missed out on cruise control, alarm and alloy wheels. I feel certain that all the current models from Audi, VW, Seat and Skoda should be the same as far as the german fitting instructions go. As I said in my previous email, the german instuctions for the Golf simply said to take the single blue wire to fuse 5, instead of contact 75X on the relay board (as mentioned on Audi A3). The A3 article covers everything else. You might want to check with a dealer that the electrical box is indeed situated under the scuttle panel, and how to remove it. On my car the dealer was of little help - but removing the scuttle panel was simpler than I'd expected. There was no bonding or glue to worry about, I simply levered it up from the windscreen. You will almost certainly need to order the wiring loom from Iberparts (part no 1J0 971 425) price us$15.58, as it seems impossible to order here. As I said before, it wasn't even listed on any of the dealer's slides. If you want details of how to order, I can provide. I'm sorry I can't send any pics, because I don't have a scanner. The pics I sent to you before were from a digital camcorder - which I've now sold. You can take a look at the webpages at Gute-Fahrt (the links are included on your own page), or perhaps you could do as I did and order back copies of the magazine. If you want details of how, I can provide. I would be interested to see the instuctions you have for the Golf 4. N B The log in procedure on the new VAG 1552 tool is ' 11 ' not ' 8 ' If you need to know anything else - just ask I just thought I would let you know that I got the cruise control fitted and enabled. It is fantastic. Claus in Germany was kind enough to translate both the Golf and Audi fitting instructions for me (I have copied this, so you can maybe add it to your web page). I must admit that if I'd known how difficult it was to fit on my car, I would not have bothered. I am pleased I did though - and it all started from your web page. This it how it happened: Saw your page after clicking various links from Fred's TDI site Went to dealer and ordered column stalk and the wires you had illustrated Undid lower dash panel, but couldnt find 'loose 4 wires' Couldnt get anyone to remove airbag for me or carry out any work. Skoda dealer removed airbag for me after a lot of persauding Looked at links for Gute-Fahrt and spent days trying to translate, only to come up with gobbldygook Went round collages to find a german language teacher - lady there refused to do it Rang professional translators - they wanted £45 - £75, **** that! Contacted Gute-Fahrt for back copies of articles, so I could see the text and pics clearer - they sent two brand-new magazines which had included the artivles within 7 days for about £7 inc postage (here you have to wait 28 days for some crappy photo-copies with our mags) Tried to order cruise control wiring loom at Seat and VW dealers (I got the part no from Audi A3 instuctions) - Part didnt exist according to their wiring diagrams and when they attempted to order, it was permantly out of stock. Been driving round for a month with no airbag and dash in bits waiting for the wiring loom Then I remembered Iberparts - they said it was available, and the price worked out a couple of pounds cheaper, even with the carriage charge included Ordered loom from them, expecting anything between 4 - 6 weeks delivery time - two weeks later (boxing day!) they emailed me to say it had been dispatched that day to arrive the next. I thought they were taking the p*ss - Boxing Day? - It didnt arrive, so I emailed them 10 minutes later I got a reply - flight was cancelled, so it would arrive the next day (28th) They also gave a tracking no to check progress on UPS web site 9.20 am 28th December UPS arrived - the part was spot on, exactly the same as illustrated in the german articles I now had everything I needed (Claus had sent the translation on Xmas day and I got the wiring loom a few days later) By now I realised that I had to remove the plastic scuttle panel at the bottom of the windscreen, the wipers and the wiper motor in order to access the electric box (as refered to in the german article) The scuttle pannel was tight up against the windscreen and I was a bag of nerves trying to remove it without damaging anything - I had asked the dealer for guidance, but they said they'd never removed one before! The back copies of Gute-Fahrt really came in useful now - the pics were that clear, I could identify which connector block I needed to use and how to wire it Couldn't feed the pins on the end of the wires into the loom and was worried about forcing anything, so I asked the dealer - guess what? they didnt know Refered back to the pics in magazine - it looked like the bloke had pulled out the purple edge of the connector block - I tried, it worked (the wires now slotted in), thank God! The spare wire (blue) connected to fuse 5 as shown in the Golf instructions. I now know that the instructions for the golf are simply an alternative to the last part of the fitting instuctions of the A3. On A3 the spare wire goes to 75X (located on the relay board, behind lower dash panel). On the golf this spare wire goes to Fuse 5. Thats all there is to it. Anyway, all wired up, everything put back together - hope its gona work Went to an independent VW service place who quoted just £11.50 + vat to enable it - bloke there had a brand new VAG 1552 tool, he seemed as though he didnt have a clue, but eventually put the code and nothing seemed to happen Paid my money, reluctantly, thinking it wasn't going to work - but it DID WORK I hope your page, the translation, and my comments will help others to do the same as us Simon
